A constant presence is framed by ancestral attributes rooted in culture and tradition, a myth seen as a protective entity and at the same time as a devastating entity. The project presents the tensions between the Galeras volcano and the inhabitants of the city of San Juan de Pasto; The volcano has been active since the first Spanish records in 1600 but despite this, its inhabitants refuse to evacuate; presenting a clash of glances between those who say that the volcano threatens to destroy the city and those who consider it a protector that would never harm them.
The installation presents a mock-up of a post-eruption. An inert land buried by the furious gaze of the supposed entity. The project also has a photographic record courtesy of the Colombian Geological Service in the form of an artist book
Una presencia constante se enmarca con atributos ancestrales enraizados a la cultura y a la tradición. Un mito como ente protector y a su vez otra mirada como ente devastador. La obra presenta las tensiones entre el volcán Galeras y los habitantes de Nariño, Colombia; El volcán se encuentra activo desde los primeros registros españoles en 1600 pero a pesar de esto sus pobladores se rehúsan a evacuar la zona; Presentándose un cruce de miradas entre quienes dicen que el volcán amenaza con destruir la Ciudad y quienes lo consideran un ente protector que nunca les haría daño.
La instalación presenta una maqueta de una post-erupción. Una tierra no-inerte sepultada por la mirada furiosa del supuesto ente. El proyecto también cuenta con un registro fotográfico cortesía del Servicio Geológico Colombiano en forma de libro de artista
